Hello and welcome,

Traditional Chinese Medicine is a safe, effective, and time-tested system that has much to offer us today.

Castlemaine Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture is situated @ The Hub in the heart of Castlemaine and offers Acupuncture, Massage, Cupping and Moxibustion and a full range of Chinese Herbal Medicine.

From assisting with pain relief to dealing with stress or preparing for a healthy pregnancy Chinese Medicine can provide great outcomes either by itself or working alongside your Western Medical treatment.

I have over thirty years of clinical experience and Chinese Medicine continues to fascinate and inspire me.

Your treatment may include Acupuncture, Massage, Cupping or Herbal Medicine depending on your preference and what is appropriate for your circumstances.

If you would like to discuss whether Chinese Medicine may assist you please contact me by text or email with your contact details and I will then be in touch to discuss your situation  and to arrange an appointment time.

Acupuncture

Unique to the Chinese this traditional treatment uses extremely fine needles to influence the flow of energy (or Qi)  throughout the body.

It should be distinguished from dry needling, a modern technique that only partly replicates the benefits of acupuncture.

Electro-acupuncture

This technique is helpful to relieve pain in cases of acute muscular or tendon pain.

It works by connecting pairs acupuncture needles to a small device that sends a light electric current between them.

Massage

An important part of treating muscular conditions, it helps to warm and relax the muscles and determine where the energy is blocked.

A typical session may include up to 20 minutes of massage which is then followed by acupuncture and sometimes also cupping.

Cupping

Consists of placing glass suction cups onto tight muscular areas to release tension. The cups exert a negative pressure, or suction, on the skin which stretches the underlying muscle fibres. This allows for increased blood flow to the area and greatly improves the circulation of Qi, Blood and Body Fluids.

Moxibustion

Moxa is a herb that is prepared to a form where it can be burnt over acupuncture points or other areas. It provides a gentle, relaxing and deeply penetrating therapeutic heat.

Chinese Herbal Medicine

Herbal medicine uses  the natural chemistry of plants and weaves them together into sophisticated herbal formulas.

It is based on texts that are over 2000 years old and amongst the oldest complete clinical textbooks in the world.  Chinese Herbal Medicine draws on observations of how herbs interact with illness that have built up over thousands of years.

The herbs available from the clinic are in a powdered form. This is an ideal way to take herbs as it does not require cooking them but has all the benefits of raw herbs.

What does Chinese Medicine Treat?

Chinese Medicine treats a vast array of conditions, but every practitioner will have areas of expertise. I have an interest in treating:

What happens during a treatment?

The first visit will include a discussion of a client’s history and lifestyle. We will discuss what therapies could be helpful for you.

Treatment can include acupuncture, massage, moxibustion, cupping and Chinese Herbs depending on the issue and what you prefer.

Treatments last an hour and are all one to one. Multiple rooms are not used in the clinic.

Herbal Medicine can assist an acupuncture treatment or be used as stand alone option.
